Daniel Craig is a British actor who was born on 2 March 1968 in Chester, Cheshire to parents Carol Olivia and Timothy John Wroughton Craig. Daniel Craig also has an older sister, Lea.
Daniel showed an interest in acting from a young age when he began appearing in school plays from the age of 6. In order to pursue his interest in acting, he attended the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool.

He then moved to London in 1984 after being accepted to attend the National Youth Theatre to study acting as a career.
His education has clearly paid off, and Daniel is now most well-known for his role as British secret agent James Bond, appearing in the last five movies in the franchise. He has now called time on his portrayal of James Bond, with No Time To Die marking his last outing.
He has also appeared in a number of other successful Hollywood movies – he has over 70 acting credits to his name – including Defiance (2008), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Cowboys and Aliens (2011) & Knives Out (2019).

After leaving the National Youth Theatre in London, Daniel Craig went on to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied alongside the likes of Ewan McGregor and Damian Lewis. He graduated in 1991.
His first role on the big screen came just a year later in the 1992 adaptation of The Power of One. However, after appearing in a string of American and British TV shows and movies, he finally landed what is now considered his breakthrough role in the 1996 BBC drama, Our Friends In The North.
Daniel’s first ‘big’ Hollywood role came when landed a part in the commercially successful 2001 movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, appearing alongsideAngelina Jolie. Implying he was aware the movie would likely have been poorly reviewed (which it was) Daniel has said his main reason for taking the part was how much it paid.
After Tomb Raider, he started to appear in Hollywood movies more frequently, including Road to Perdition (2002), The Mother (2003), Layer Cake (2004) Munich (2005) and Infamous (2006).
Daniel has also made a cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and starred in the critically and commercially successful mystery movie, Knives Out as private detective, Benoit Blanc. Craig is set to reprise this role in at least two more Knives Out movies.

Daniel Craig hit the big time in a huge way when he was cast as James Bond in Casino Royale (2006) drew some controversy as his physical profile didn’t match the spy depicted in Ian Fleming’s novels – mostly due to his height and blonde hair (all previous Bonds were over 6 feet and had darker features).
Despite this and Craig’s initial reluctance to take the role, his predecessor Pierce Brosnan managed to persuade him to become the sixth actor to play the spy. Many of Daniel Craig’s critics were silenced following the release of Casino Royale and its follow-up movies, with his performances being incredibly well-received.
Craig is now the longest-serving Bond actor, with his 15-year tenure breaking Roger Moore’s previous record of 12 years and is the first Bond to be born after the death of authorIan Flemingin 1964.
