The Wing Diver in Earth Defense Force 6 is the Valkyrie of the battlefield. They're the only class with the ability to fly (without using a vehicle, of course) and the vast majority of their weapons are energy-based instead of using standard ammunition. Because of this, Wing Divers must keep an eye on multiple things at all times to stay alive, such as their positioning, energy level, ammo count, health, and more.

While they have some of the highest damage output in Earth Defense Force 6, they're also the weakest character in terms of overall Armor. So, with that in mind, let's go over some of the best weapon options for this class so that new players to the EDF franchise with EDF6 have some recommendations to keep in mind while they work on mastering this highly technical character class.
10 Valiant Saber

The Valiant Saber might be one of the strongest single-target weapons in EDF6, and yet somehow it's just a simple melee weapon. For the class that's known for being EDF'sbiggest glass cannon, it might seem silly to use a weapon where the player needs to be so incredibly close to use it, but the Valiant Saber is worth it.
Even if a Wing Diver is expertly avoiding almost all danger, on the higher levels (on the higher difficulties like Hardest and Inferno) it's almost impossible to completely avoid enemies getting up close and personal. In these situations, the Valiant Saber is a literal lifesaver, as the damage it outputs per swing is usually enough to one-shot most mobs in a single hit if not two.
9 Blinkball FZ

Next up is another Equipment option, but it's one that's a lot less 'bombastic' than most of the others. The Wing Diver is known for having very visually appealing weaponry from all sorts of different laser weapons to gigantic multi-colored explosions. In comparison, the Blinkball is basically just a grenade, but that's exactly what makes it so worth using.
One of the biggest downsides of playing Wingdiver is that most of the weaponry, while incredibly strong, is pretty complicated and typically has just as many downsides as they do benefits. So, the Blinkball being just a simple 'throw and explode' grenade is pretty helpful for when a Wing Diver just needs to output some high damage in one specific spot without considering their energy levels, charge-up time, lock-on time, or anything else like that.
8 Bolt Shooter ZF

Now this next opinion might be controversial, but the Bolt Shooter is probably our favorite long-range Wing Diver option in Earth Defense Force 6. While the amount of energy it demands for each reload is pretty absurd, the range of this weapon, the simplicity, and the DPS easily cancel out any downsides.

Again, sometimes simple is best, and the Bolt Shooter just fires bolts of energy very precisely at any target they're pointed at, and can be used to take out multiple mobs or a couple of elites on Inferno difficulty in a single charge (making it great for farming missions). Just make sure that no enemies are approaching too closely when reloading this weapon, as it'll most likely entirely drain the Wing Diver's Energy Core (and even a bit more once it refills) with every reload.
7 Reflectron Five-Way Laser ZD

While most of the other weapon choices above this one are here for their simplicity, the Reflectron Five-Way Laser is here purely because it's not simple. In fact, while using this weapon, it can actually be pretty difficult to tell what's going on at all, given all the laser lights on screen at once.
However, when it comes to AoE mob clearing in a small area, this is by far one of the best choices. When fired, the Reflectron Five-Way Laser fires, well, five lasers that deal damage to anything they touch and reflect off any and all surfaces. As the energy in the weapon tank drains, the lasers deal less damage and get smaller, but by then most of the weaker mobs in the general vicinity of this weapon being fired are already long dead.
6 Guided Grenade 12

The Guided Grenade is another simple option for players who like to keep things a bit less intense, and it's one of their best options. When thrown, the Guided Grenade does exactly what its name suggests, as the thrown grenade splits into 5+ small grenades that are automatically guided to nearby enemies. The damage output on this Equipment is relatively lackluster compared to a lot of other options on here, but the recharge time and ease of use make up for the lack of damage.
Essentially, Wing Divers tend to use this Equipment when they're up against numerous weak but agile enemies who are dangerous once they get close. By using this Equipment, the Wing Diver can take out these enemies without having to fully focus on them or use any more energy than necessary.
5 Gleiphnir Alpha
Independent Operation Equipment (Super Weapon)
Personally, the Gleiphnir has to be our favorite I.O.E (AKA Grenade) in the game for the Wing Diver, and the reason for this is very simple, it's so satisfying to use. Essentially, players press the Equipment button and their Wing Diver will throw this Equipment, after it flies forward a short distance, the Gleiphnir will hover in mid-air and then begin to fire numerous energy projectiles up into the air.
These projectiles will then automatically home in on any enemies in the range of the Gleiphnir, dealing pretty modest damage per hit to anything they make contact with. It's by far one of the best options to throw into a mob of enemies, especially if the player wants to keep them distracted, and typically the Gleiphnir will actually take down a good chunk of this mob entirely on its own before running out of juice. The only real downside of this Equipment is the long recharge time/requirement, but it makes sense given how strong it is overall.
4 Dragoon Lance ZM
Weapon (Close Range)
The Lance-type weapons are pretty iconic for the Wing Diver in the Earth Defense Force games, and the Dragoon Lance is one of the strongest iterations of it. These weapons have a pretty demanding energy cost, take quite a while to charge up, and have a very short range, but in exchange their damage output is astronomical.

Think of it like an actual magical lance, aka an incredibly powerful piercing weapon great for taking out an enemy in one or two stabs. While the other Lances such as the Phalanx Lances don't really seem all that worth it for the damage they deal, the Dragoon Lance absolutely does.
3 Spark Whip ZY
Weapon (Close Range)
The Spark Whip ZY is essentially the perfect example of an 'old reliable' weapon choice for the Wing Diver. It has its own energy tank, the cost to refill said tank is pretty low, the range is decent, and the damage is pretty good. It might be a bit boring compared to some of the most bombastic weapon options available to the Wing Diver, but who cares if it does the job well?
Players can get lower-level variations of the Spark Whip pretty early, allowing them to get some practice with this weapon and the ideal times to use it before getting the higher-level (and much stronger) variations of it on Inferno Difficulty.
2 Lightning Bow ZA
Weapon (Mid Range)
The Lightning Bow is another weapon that players can find versions of very early in their EDF6 playtime, which is great since it's one of the best AoE tools the Wing Diver has access to. This is by far one of the best choices anyone can make for their Wing Diver due to the low energy cost and how quickly it takes out mobs of basic enemies.
Just be aware that this is one of those Wing Diver weapons that once the player lets go of the charge, it'll auto-fire until it's empty. And, when it comes to elite enemies this is absolutely not something anyone would recommend using. But, for what it's designed to do, the Lightning Bow does the job incredibly well.
1 Plasma Cannon F
Weapon (Long Range)
Probably one of the most controversial choices to put on here, but one of our personal favorites. In EDF6, there are a lot of times when the actual terrain on the map is just straight up in the way. Enemies often intentionally (or even unintentionally) hide behind buildings, the big mob of enemies a player wants to take out is entirely covered by buildings, or the enemies themselves gain more from climbing the buildings than the players would.
In these instances, it's great to have a weapon that not only deals good damage but also takes out any surrounding buildings that are hit by the blast. In general, the Plasma Cannons aren't really worth the energy cost for the damage and aiming difficulty, but the Plasma Cannon F is the exception to the rule (at least in our opinion).
