I'm a 63yo adult returning to school full-time for my BFA beginning last January 2024 in the Frostic School of Art. So far I would rate the classes, facilities, and instructors very highly. I can't speak to campus life in any way, I commute an hour to Kalamazoo to attend classes and spend no time on campus that isn't required for my classes or studio projects, but I would say that my classmates seem to have pretty positive things to say!

Overall I had a very positive experience at Western. Although the beginning of my college experience was unlike most due to my freshman year being the Fall of 2020 I am happy I attended Western. I met so many amazing people along the way who I created the best memories with. Western has a beautiful campus and many buildings to study in and explore on campus. Our hockey games are truly an experience and a lot of fun to attend. I loved going downtown Kalamazoo, there are many restaurants, museums, coffee shops and shops to visit. Downtown Kalamazoo also has a lot of events that I enjoyed partaking in such as their annual chili and salsa cook off. There are many off campus housing options for fairly cheap compared to other college towns which was a huge bonus. I was apart of a smaller major so I got to become very close with my classmates and professors which was a huge plus for my academics. I truly felt that all my professors were very supportive and wanted us to succeed.

I have loved my experience so far, this will be my secound year their I transfered in last year. THe professsors are pretty good the ones the I have like they help you when your struggling, help explain things better, answer any questions you have, and their not going to leave you hanging. The only things that could be improved is the dorm housing is just really old and out of date but I know they are working on rebuilding them. Then the food at the dining center is okay it could be better for how much you are paying.
